Washington Pass Overlook
A free, paved 0.2-mile accessible path to a panorama of Liberty Bell Mountain and the Early Winters Spires, off the north side of WA-20. Seasonal — the highway closes for snow from late fall to late spring.
The Washington Pass Overlook is the signature photo stop on the North Cascades Highway, at the road's 5,477-foot crest off the north side of WA-20. A free, paved 0.2-mile accessible path leads to a panorama of Liberty Bell Mountain and the Early Winters Spires.
For riders it is the natural place to stop on one of the most dramatic mountain highways in the country — the high point of the route, with the payoff view just a short walk from the bikes.
The catch is the season: WA-20 closes for snow from late fall to late spring, so the overlook is only reachable in the warmer months. Confirm the highway is open before planning a trip around it.
